Indoor Fairy Garden

Image
It is easy to create an indoor fairy garden using a plant pot, fake moss, rocks/ painted rocks, fake succulents, shells, and fairy garden pieces.  There is no wrong way to do this.  It is simply artist's choice.

Planet Rocks

Image
I love painting rocks.  They are fun to display both inside and outside for decorative purposes.  I painted these rocks to look like the planets in our solar system using tempera paints, added the runes that represent the planets, and added some glitter as a finishing touch.  They make a beautiful display in my library.

Homemade Dollhouse Couches

Image
You can create easy dollhouse couches and chairs by building them out of sponges.  You simply cut them to shape, glue them with either a hot glue gun or tacky glue, and cover them in cloth/hand sew them.  The ones pictured are for a dollhouse size 1/12th but they can be made with another layer of sponges to create 1/6th size for Barbie houses.  So easy and fun!  Pro tip: I found it easier to cut the couches, then sew the cloth on them and glue them last.

Pet Paw Print Keepsakes

Image
I found these awesome Pet Paw Print Keepsakes at Crayola.com.  They came in both star and moon shapes that you form using Crayola model magic and shape molds.  Next, my children pressed their dog's and cat's paw prints into the clay, and let it air dry.  Finally, we painted them with tempera paints and signed and dated the back with Sharpies.  They had so much fun and the keepsakes look perfect on their bookshelves in their bedrooms.

Art Teacher Sign

Image
As I am gearing up for the upcoming school year like other teachers across the country, I found this beautiful blank wood like panel in the Christmas section at Hobby Lobby, and decided to make my own teacher sign using tempera paints.

Starfish Beaded Bracelet

Image
Butler Hill Beads of Maine sells adorable make your own bracelet kits.  The instructions are easy to follow and they are lots of fun to make.  Here is a summer Starfish Beaded Bracelet that I made using one of their fabulous kits.

Scentsy Flower Diffusers

Image
Scentsy makes flower oil diffusers in a variety of different delicious scents.  You can color the edges of the flower with colored Sharpies and as the oil fills the flowers, the colored marker bleeds into the flower, creating this beautiful decoration.  You can also paint the glass container to match your home decor.

Fresh Summer Flowers

Image
Arranging fresh cut flowers is an art form in itself.  However, taking children to a local farm to cut fresh flowers and create their own arrangement has a bit of magic in itself.  There is just something about a child's eye and how they see the beauty in the world around them.   Here are my children's fresh cut flower arrangements from Goss Berry Farm in Mechanic Falls, Maine.

Easy Red, White, and Blue Craft

Image
This is an easy Red, White, and Blue Craft that I made using a simple Patriotic craft kit found at Dollar Tree and acrylic paints.   Step 1: Buy Craft Kit from Dollar Tree Step 2: Paint the Background White Step 3: Paint Red, White, and Blue Design of Choice.  The Following is the Design I came up with. Step 4: Display Your Finished Craft with other Patriotic Themed Decorations.

Rock Painting

Image
I love to paint rocks and shells to add to both my indoor and my outdoor decorations.  I found these awesome metallic markers on Amazon that work awesome on both shells and rocks.  I used a spray fixative to help seal them so that they will be weather resistant.

A Little Girl's Flower Garden

Image
My daughter absolutely loves to garden and requested to have her own flower garden this year.  We had so much fun designing her outdoor space, picking out flowers at the local farm stand, and adding accents to make it magical.  So far, we've added a miniature fairy garden (all supplies bought at out local Dollar Tree), a Hope rock (purchased from our local Dollar Tree, Solar Lights ( a set of three- a dragonfly, a butterfly, and a bumblebee- purchased from out local Harbor Freight), and a garden stone that she painted (a kit that was purchased for $5 from our local Hobby Lobby).  It has become such a fun and magical space!

Gnome Domes

Image
I created these gnome domes with my daughter using some plastic domes, moss, white rocks, small colored stones, and small fairy garden features I found at Dollar Tree.  We used tacky glue to stick everything down, and I created the gnomes out of Sculpey clay.  They started out hanging inside, but have since been moved outside on my deck.  They have held up perfectly in the outdoor summer conditions.
